Bars+Tone was definitely not what I expected it to be. I thought that it was going to be all crazy and everybody rushing to everything done, including our visit. But i was wrong. While we were there everything was pretty layback, that was cool. Even though the company was small, with only one floor of a building, Bars+Tone does big projects. I liked their Promo Video, and seeing that video made me want to make something like that. The host Teresa LoBue was extremely nice and very patient with us. She showed us around the office, and introduced us to every one that was working that day. And she explained that each person has a different job.

Stefan Welter, the founder and president of Bars+Tone, made the biggest impact on me. I was really inspired when I heard his story on how he built Bars+Tone from ground up. He started by himself and made his way up to where he is now. I asked Stefan Welter what advice would he give to someone that wanted to have a career that was like his and he told me that you have to have patience, good communication skills, and to get yourself out there.

Eric Steckel, the Executive Producer of Bars+Tone, made an impact on me too. Lately I have been thinking that I want to go into Video Production and create a career based on that and Eric Steckel helped me with that. I also asked Eric Steckel what advice would he give to someone that wanted a career that was like his and he told me almost the same thing that Stefan Welter told me, to basically get myself out there. He also said that I could learn more about video production one a set for one day, than I would in an entire semester of school. He said that I should find out when and where a set would be that I would be able to get there and to just help out and learn. I told Eric Steckel that I was making a highlight tape for my little brother’s youth football team and I asked him if that would be a good way to start my video production dream, and he said that that was were I should start and that it was a good idea.
I learned that whatever I’m passionate about I can make that my career from the visit to Bars+Tone. Right now my brain is telling me that I want to use the skills that I’m learning in high school, and in the Digital Safari Academy to make my career. I still have plenty of learning to do but I know that I want to major in Video Production and then go from there.
