Seriously Though

So this new project isn’t really going so smoothly. Like we are getting the minimal done and it’s only been like 2 weeks. We haven’t started production, we took a little pictures for the Photographic Exploration, we’re basically just taking our time with this project. Time we don’t really have to waste away. I’m hoping for sure that tomorrow we can start the filming process. I know putting everything off like this is going to lead to a bad ending. So far our idea about learning about a family that didn’t want their child/children going to Mount Diablo for their experience in high school and how over time their mind as turn to see that Mount Diablo doesn’t necessarily live up to the bad reputation that is given to the school and the people that attend. Basically how they’re not afraid to have their child/children attend Mount anymore.

The group is okay. For the work that we have done, everyone has pulled their weight. I honestly think I have done the least. I mean, yeah, I did do the script and put our little idea into words and what will become a documentary. But after that all I’ve done was blog. That’s it. I got to get a grip and start doing more work than I’ve been doing. This year has gone by so fast already. And if I continue not to do anything with this project, my group will follow, because they see me as the leader. And then we’ll fail this project and that’s that. But if I change things up, we’ll be successful and end up with a good documentary. We basically have to keep focus until this project is over.

If my group happens to read this I say good luck to all of us. I know we can be successful and all we got to do is continue the hard work. :)

I have to admit I procrastinated with this assignment. At first i didn’t want to want to do this assignment, but once I started I wanted to finish. I also have to admit that all the pictures that have my face in it I didn’t take myself. Tiffanyy took them for me. (Thanks Tiffyy!) The other ones I did take myself. I’m actually proud of myself. I did get done with it pretty quickly which was cool. I’d do this assignment again. It was fun.

2010 I.D.entity

WOW!!

This year’s turn out was amazing. I’m so proud of this year’s junior class. The performance was great. There was so many people there. Romaine Hall was pretty much packed. From what I saw, there was people actually standing up. O_O. Everybody’s I.D.entity’s were really something special, and I along with everyone else got to see a side of them that we would have never have known. I practically cried in everyone’s because I was so proud of them.

The process was a difficult one. I’ll have to be honest DLT did lag on somethings. But by the end we got everything done. It was hard work, but totally worth it in the end. During everything we fought a lot, especially with Daniel. As you  saw in the video, we beat him up a lot too (hehe). We also had a lot of fun with everything. Our first idea for a video failed. We were going to take the words we were saying and shoot something to it that was like a literal meaning, but we changed it. We just took a camera with us wherever we went and shot us being the people we are. There was a lot of photography in our video as well and I liked that idea. We took some really good pictures and edited them really well. And they were put in the right place too.

The I.D.entity showcase gets better every year. And this year was awesome. It’s just so cool to know that we all wrote something with such power and emotion behind it. Way to go DSA Juniors!! Class of 11!

Reflecting on Our Career Exploration

Bars+Tone was definitely not what I expected it to be. I thought that it was going to be all crazy and everybody rushing to everything done, including our visit. But i was wrong. While we were there everything was pretty layback, that was cool. Even though the company was small, with only one floor of a building, Bars+Tone does big projects. I liked their Promo Video, and seeing that video made me want to make something like that. The host Teresa LoBue was extremely  nice and very patient with us. She showed us around the office, and introduced us to every one that was working that day. And she explained that each person has a different job.

Stefan Welter, the founder and president of Bars+Tone, made the biggest impact on me. I was really inspired when I heard his story on how he built Bars+Tone from ground up. He started by himself and made his way up to where he is now. I asked Stefan Welter what advice would he give to someone that wanted to have a career that was like his and he told me that you have to have patience, good communication skills, and to get yourself out there.

Eric Steckel, the Executive Producer of Bars+Tone, made an impact on me too. Lately I have been thinking that I want to go into Video Production and create a career based on that and Eric Steckel helped me with that. I also asked Eric Steckel what advice would he give to someone that wanted a career that was like his and he told me almost the same thing that Stefan Welter told me, to basically get myself out there. He also said that I could learn more about video production one a set for one day, than I would in an entire semester of school. He said that I should find out when and where a set would be that I would be able to get there and to just help out and learn. I told Eric Steckel that I was making a highlight tape for my little brother’s youth football team and I asked him if that would be a good way to start my video production dream, and he said that that was were I should start and that it was a good idea.

I learned that whatever I’m passionate about I can make that my career from the visit to Bars+Tone. Right now my brain is telling me that I want to use the skills that I’m learning in high school, and in the Digital Safari Academy to make my career. I still have plenty of learning to do but I know that I want to major in Video Production and then go from there.
